Principii esentiale pentru investitori
122 principii esentiale despre investitii, dintre care am compilat doar cateva:
“When most people say they want to be a millionaire, what they really mean is "I want to spend $1 million," which is literally the opposite of being a millionaire.”
“Beginners should focus on avoiding mistakes, experts on making great moves."
"Expertise is great, but it has a bad side effect: It tends to create the inability to accept new ideas."
"Timing the market is a fool's game, whereas time in the market is your greatest natural advantage."
"Most people, whether bull or bear, when they are right, are right for the wrong reason.”
"The advice that sounds the best in the short run is always the most dangerous in the long run."
“Several studies have shown that people prefer a pundit who is confident to one who is accurate. Pundits are happy to oblige.”
"When you first start to study a field, it seems like you have to memorize a zillion things. You don't. What you need is to identify the core principles - generally three to twelve of them - that govern the field. The million things you thought you had to memorize are simply various combinations of the core principles."
"A person with a flexible schedule and average resources will be happier than a rich person who has everything except a flexible schedule. Step one in your search for happiness is to continually work toward having control of your schedule."
“Investors want to believe in someone. Forecasters want to earn a living. One of those groups is going to be disappointed. I think you know which.”
"When a possibility is unfamiliar to us, we do not even think about it. The biggest risk is always something that no one is talking about, thinking about, or preparing for. That's what makes it risky.”
"History doesn't crawl; it leaps.”
"I've written hundreds of articles about the economy in the last two years. But I think I can reduce those thousands of words to one sentence. Things got better, slowly."
“There is a strong correlation between knowledge and humility. The best investors realize how little they know.”
“There were 272 automobile companies in 1909. Through consolidation and failure, three emerged on top, two of which went bankrupt. Spotting a promising trend and a winning investment are two different things.”
“Focus on not getting beat by the market before you think about trying to beat it.”
“Finance would be better if it was taught by the psychology and history departments at universities.”
“You can control your portfolio allocation, your own education, who you listen to, what you read, what evidence you pay attention to, and how you respond to certain events. You cannot control what the Fed does, laws Congress sets, the next jobs report, or whether a company will beat earnings estimates. Focus on the former; try to ignore the latter.”
“Several academic studies have shown that those who trade the most earn the lowest returns. Remember Pascal's wisdom: "All man's miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone."
"No one can foresee the consequences of trivia and accident, and for that reason alone, the future will forever be filled with surprises."
“I once asked Daniel Kahneman about a key to making better decisions. "You should talk to people who disagree with you and you should talk to people who are not in the same emotional situation you are," he said. Try this before making your next investment decision.”

“Want to get rich? Then you should just keep buying a diverse set of income-producing assets. While this advice sounds easy enough, the hard part comes when deciding what kind of income-producing assets to own.”
“No matter what mix of income-producing assets you end up choosing, remember that there are many ways to win when it comes to investing. In this game, it’s not about picking the “optimal” assets, but the ones that will work best for you and your situation.”

“When you see someone driving a nice car, you probably don't think, "Wow, that person is cool." Instead, you think, "Wow, if I had that car people would think I'm cool." Do you see the irony? No one cares about the guy in the car. Have fun; buy some nice stuff. But realize that what people are really after is respect, and humility will ultimately gain you more of it than vanity.”
